6 Harmonies Treatment Approach

We are a Traditional Medicine Clinic offering a unique treatment approach by integrating Classical Acupuncture with CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and Chinese Orthopedic Bodywork (also called Chinese Sports Medicine or Tuina).  Each of these modalities are very effective independently, integrating them amplifies their effectiveness providing a far more profound and long lasting effect over acupuncture or CST alone, which helps you to achieve your health and wellness goals faster.

At 6 Harmonies you will experience personalized care. Each session is tailored to meet your needs that day, as well as to support you in working toward your overall health and wellness goals. Your sessions will include a combination of acupuncture, CranioSacral Therapy, and/or Chinese orthopedic bodywork (Tuina); additional Classical Chinese Medicine therapies may also be included in your session to further support your progress.

Classical Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a part of the larger system of Chinese Medicine, which originated in China more than 3000 years ago.   Such a long and well documented history makes Chinese medicine one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and complete medical systems in the world.   The World Health Organization (WHO) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) recognize acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as a highly effective system of medicine useful in treating a broad range of physical, psychological and emotional conditions, diseases, and pain.

Acupuncture is the best known therapy within Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture focuses on treatment of specific points along meridians to rebalance the level and circulation of Qi (energy) through the meridians, nervous system, internal organs, fascia, and joints.

Acupuncture is performed by gently inserting thin, sterile, single-use needles at specific points in the body to facilitate change and balance of Qi, increase blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve function of our organs, nervous system, endocrine system, muscles, tendons & ligaments, and bones.   Increasing balance or harmony in the flow of Qi nourishes and encourages the body's innate healing abilities.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

Dr. John Upledger

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of treatment which supports your body's own natural healing abilities.  It comes out of the tradition of osteopathy in the US and was developed by John Upledger, DO in the 1970s.

CST is performed using light touch (mostly on the head, torso, and tailbone areas) to assess the balance and functioning of your central nervous system and the craniosacral system.

CST techniques encourage whole body relaxation and release pain and restrictions caused by old injuries, new injuries, or physical or emotional trauma.  CranioSacral Therapy is also an excellent tool to help maintain good health and bolstering your immune system.

Because of its gentle nature, CST can be effective for an extraordinarily broad range of medical conditions and is suitable for almost everyone.  It  is gentle enough for babies, the elderly, and anyone suffering from acute physical or emotional pain.

CST is a natural complement to acupuncture and we often combine the two in treatment sessions at 6 Harmonies for a more effective and complete health care approach.
